Picture This: The First Advent in 1990?!
by Dave Bender
If Jesus had been born in this generation, would it have gone something like this?
Joseph went up to Bakersfield to take care of this parents will, since he was the executor. He went with Mary, his fiancee, who was pregnant. While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. The Ford F150 broke down just as teh rain started pouring buckets and she was giving birth to a son – her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a feed trough, because they were right next to the Mt Vernon 4-H Center...Perhaps the angels would have appeared to a small convoy of truckers hauling sheep to a market in the middle of the night. They were traveling on I-5 in Southern California when "the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid." (Luke 2 : 9 NKJV) They stopped their trucks, wondering if a UFO was landing. "Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and..said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in Bakersfield, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you're to look for: a baby wraped in a blanket and lying in a feed trough." At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's prasises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please Him. As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the truck drivers talked it over. "Let's get over to Bakersfield as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us." They left, running their engines flat out, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the feed trough at the 4-H center. Seeing was believing. THey told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the truck drivers were impressed. (The Message Bible, Luke 2 : 9 - 18, with some imagination)

Would Jesus have gone to the Vatican, Westminster Abby or the Cathedral of Notre Dame and driven out the religious leaders who were corrupt? CNN, Fox News and the BBC would have swooped in to get every account from the ones who suffered this terrible atrocity. It would be broadcast around the world instantaneously, and make front-page headlines everywhere. The talk shows would have a blast with this story. How many denominations do you think would have accepted Christ and His message after that? Especially since they knew Christ was raised in Las Vegas and the tabloids carried every juicy bit of junk they could to raise doubts? Would the believers listen to the pastors, elders and bishops they had trusted for years, or an outsider that no human being claimed as his son?
