It was said of Napoleon, his presence on the battlefield was worth 50,000 men.
History has proven this to be true. His Grande Armée de la République consistently defeated armies with
superior numbers. But what was his secret? Many generals of that day had brilliant minds,
boldness and faith in their cause. However, the armies of that day depended upon orders from HQ to act.
All initiatives came from the top down. Napoleon actually divided his Grande Armée into 7 Corps, each
led by a Marshall, who could make tactical decisions independent of Napoleon.
IT’S GREAT WHEN PEOPLE BELIEVE IN THEIR LEADERS;
IT’S EVEN GREATER WHEN LEADERS BELIEVE IN THE PEOPLE.
